DA Kaiserslautern News and Events
Dear Kaiserslautern Democrats,
Mark your calendars! We’ve set the dates for our next two meetings and details will soon follow. I hope to see you there!
Sunday, October 29th
Location TBD
Iraq For Sale Movie Screening & Potluck Lunch
Private contractors are getting rich while everybody else is suffering: This is the point director Robert Greenwald makes -- passionately -- in this 2006 documentary. Using whistleblower testimony, firsthand accounts, financial records and classified documents, Greenwald levels charges of greed, corruption and incompetence against private contractors and shows the subsequent devastating effect on Americans and Iraqis. Learn more about the film at: http://iraqforsale.org/about.php
*** Please let me know if you would like to host this event! I’ve a very small living room and would like all of our attendees to be comfortable while we enjoy the film. Thanks! ***
Thursday, November 16th
Location TBD
Post-election Victory Party
Join us while we dine, drink and discuss the mid-term elections. We will meet in the evening at a centrally located Kaiserslautern or Landstuhl restaurant, so bring your appetite!

DA Luxembourg “Annual Fundraiser Pot Luck”
“Democrats Abroad Luxembourg invite you to the "Annual Fund Raiser Pot Luck and Pre-Election Rally" on 15 October 2006 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the home of Vicki and Guy Hansen-Thackray.
We realise that not living in Luxembourg means you usually don't find it easy to attend our meetings. However, since this one is on a Sunday we hope it will be easier for you this time.
We are proud to announce that the speaker will be Joseph Smallhoover, Legal Counsel, Democratic Party Committee Abroad. Mr. Smallhoover was active in the efforts resulting in a Resolution by Democrats Abroad to explore the possibility of establishing a Special Prosecutor to determine if grounds exist to impeach Bush and Cheney.
As this is a fund-raiser, we are asking each American attending to contribute 20 Euros. The money raised will be used to fund activities undertaken by DAL.
Those attending are asked to bring a dish to eat, if possible one that reflects the cuisine of their state - or wine, beer or soft drinks.”
*** I will be driving the short 1½ hours to attend this important event, so please let me know if you would like to join me! ***

Branson Donates Billions to Battle Global Warming
British tycoon Sir Richard Branson is to donate circa $4.3 billion to fight climate change. The Virgin boss yesterday confirmed he plans to divert all profits from the company's air and train businesses over the next decade towards finding alternative energy methods to coal and oil. Speaking to an audience, including former President Bill Clinton, at a Global Initiative summit in New York, he said, "Our generation has inherited an incredibly beautiful world from our parents, and they from their parents. We must not be the generation responsible for irreversibly damaging the environment."
